In this argument Aquinas explains the existence of God. He breaks it down into three categories; motion, causality and design. In all three he explains that God must exist in order for those things to be possible. If something is moving, something else had to move it. Things happen, and a lot of times, those things are caused by something outside of itself. The world seems to be a design, and all designs must be created by an intelligent being. The final argument deals with the existence of evil and states; if God is omniscient and omnipresent if that is true, evil should not exist, but since evil exists, God cannot be real. I completely agree with the first three arguments. I do not believe that things could exist, or work without something to first create it. God designed this world, and every person; those things did not just happen. And while I believe in God; it is naïve to think that everyone will agree with that statement; which makes this topic so arguable. Others may say that Aquinas’ argument is untrue, using examples of evolution. So really this argument is debatable, however, I believe there is only one correct answer in the end. As far as the subject of evil goes, if God was really omniscient why would He allow evil and sin? I believe He allows it because He allows for free will. He let’s us make decisions based on what we think is best, and He does not interfere. As a result, since we are imperfect beings, we brought evil and sin into this world, and have done nothing to get rid of it ever since. This is a hard thing to grasp. Why would God want us to suffer if He created us? Why doesn’t He snap his fingers and make all the bad things go away? Those are questions that will never be answered unfortunately. The only explanation I have is that we are imperfect, we sin, and therefore there is evil. Maybe God wants us to learn ultimate trust and faith, and the only way we will learn that is by dealing with sin and evil in our lives.

“Every culture has its own images of Jesus and so no response can ever be the final answer”. I totally agree with this statement and this to me shows how special Jesus really is. When I read this statement the first thing that came to mind was that Jesus is like an expression of art. Like we talked in class through dance moves and pictures, there are many expressions and interpretations of a simple move or a simple sculpture or even a simple picture. Jesus is the same. I believe that wherever Jesus is, he blends in with that crowd of people but the message and teachings remains the same throughout all cultures. It’s just like how Jesus was portrayed in the film industry. Films of Jesus ranges from old traditional style where the story line comes straight from the Bible to more modern films like Bruce Almighty where the characters in the film represent God in a way that is somewhat but much little connected to the Bible and it’s teaching. You also have films that were made for adults to watch and you also have films for little children to watch and learn. But as I said before they’re may be different views of who Jesus is but all the teachings are the same.
This is a piece of my paper. and i myself do believe in God so this might be a bias comment. Here is a sister act song..Joyful Joyful.. enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_c_MHkba5c |
