When I first saw this video, it reminded me of my trip to Europe a couple of years ago. It specifically reminded me of Pompeii because of the structures shown. There is SO much culture all around us and so much in the world to explore! I remember going to the Colosseum and seeing its remains. It was such an experience there are no words to describe being in a such a historical place! Things like that need to be preserved because I think everyone should experience something like that once in their life! :)

This video, the first time I watched it, caught my attention because of two main things, the history and the music. I love history and ancient civilization with the ancient Greeks and the Egyptians being my favorite. This video shows the massive structures that were built in the ancient times and show how current technology and ancient practices are still in use today to preserve or beautify these great structures. The one scene that caught my eye as well was the old man carving designs in the stone using a hammer and a chisel. This brought me back to the time that the buildings were being created. It gave me a glimpse on how all the symbols and pictures were placed on the stone.
One thing that amazes me as well is the power that the leaders had back then. Many monuments were built for ancient rulers and gods, many of them with pure man labor. The dedication people had to their rulers, even if through fear, was astounding and through the structures, one can see the awesome power they had. One structure that come to mind when thinking of this is the Taj Mahal. It’s solid white marble structure was built for the rulers wife. Here is a brief video on the Taj Mahal. http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=1079152391&fr=yfp-t-501

The clip brought many insights to mind. One being that it is very interesting to still see certain customs and skilles practiced. Also with todays technology we can appreciate and study the morals and ruins of the world much more then we were able to in earlier history.
The below site shows the depiction of a pictogram which is shown in the beginning of the above video. Its a form of language by use of symbols, letters, or pictures.
