When I first saw this video, it reminded me of my trip to Europe a couple of years ago. It specifically reminded me of Pompeii because of the structures shown. There is SO much culture all around us and so much in the world to explore! I remember going to the Colosseum and seeing its remains. It was such an experience there are no words to describe being in a such a historical place! Things like that need to be preserved because I think everyone should experience something like that once in their life! :)

This video, the first time I watched it, caught my attention because of two main things, the history and the music. I love history and ancient civilization with the ancient Greeks and the Egyptians being my favorite. This video shows the massive structures that were built in the ancient times and show how current technology and ancient practices are still in use today to preserve or beautify these great structures. The one scene that caught my eye as well was the old man carving designs in the stone using a hammer and a chisel. This brought me back to the time that the buildings were being created. It gave me a glimpse on how all the symbols and pictures were placed on the stone.
One thing that amazes me as well is the power that the leaders had back then. Many monuments were built for ancient rulers and gods, many of them with pure man labor. The dedication people had to their rulers, even if through fear, was astounding and through the structures, one can see the awesome power they had. One structure that come to mind when thinking of this is the Taj Mahal. It’s solid white marble structure was built for the rulers wife. Here is a brief video on the Taj Mahal. http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=1079152391&fr=yfp-t-501 |

The clip brought many insights to mind. One being that it is very interesting to still see certain customs and skilles practiced. Also with todays technology we can appreciate and study the morals and ruins of the world much more then we were able to in earlier history.
The below site shows the depiction of a pictogram which is shown in the beginning of the above video. Its a form of language by use of symbols, letters, or pictures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pictogram |

After watching the video it was pretty amazing to see how creative the individuals were in the video. From watching the windows application on the wall. I learned and watched how different cultures of people do things differently.

the musical and visual mosaic blended the modern with the ancient and presented a very intriguing combination. My Sufi friends gave me a wedding mixed CD with the musical artist from the clip and it made me want to go to the headwaters of the Nile. Mythos is one of the strongest forces in Greece, even into modern times. Sadly the same Greek myths that our children in the US miss out on, Greek children get from a very young age then learn in the ancient Greek. "Winged words", from the Odyssey for instance is like nectar and ambrosia if read in the original!

the retelling of myths has been popular for centuries. we somehow are intrigued by the past and stories. orally we communicate and retell these myths to understand a period of time. sometimes pictures, drawings or old carvings can tell important stories. i think greek mythology is the most interesting.

when i first saw this video, i thought it was pretty interesting seeing the group of people project computer images on the rocky walls. i also thought the list of the roman/greek gods was interesting. i have learned a lot more than i thought i did about the greek/roman gods and what they were the god of.

When I first opened this page, what came to my mind is the movie “Troy” which consist many of myth Gods and story. It is said that Achilles is the son of a deity, and it has many stories regarding Apollo, Zeus and so on. As a matter of fact, there is a book titled “Odysseus” which tells us what happen to Odyssey after he and Agamemnon conquered Troy. Odyssey was said to have encountered many different Olympian Gods and trials given by them during his journey Home. It is hard for us to believe in Mythology since we did not see it by ourselves, and since most of them have vanished. But it is also hard to reject them for there are quite a number of evidences found involving these mythology, and no one can prove it to be lies.

When I just entered this site i thought of Hercules because of the title "Mythology." This site reminded me of Hercules because he was creation of a god and a human and he was a "hero" on earth.

Demeter was the most generous of the Olympian goddesses. Demeter was thought to be responsible for the fertility of the land. She was the only one of the Greek goddesses who was involved on a day-to-day lives of mortals. Demeter also was the only goddess who could empathize with the mortal suffering and grief, having experienced it herself - wf 4/9/07
