Although Thomas Aquinas's ideas seemed logical and true, I felt they lacked meaning. If I accept all that he attempted to prove then hooray for me, I believe that God exists. However, God's existence (this all-knowing, all-good, all-being, timeless being of infinite intelligence, the originator and sustainer of all things) means nothing to me in and of itself. For these thoughts to have any meaning in my life I would have to be able to access this God in hopes that God would share His/Her knowledge and power with me. Its in this way that philosophy can be frusterating. So much time is spent proving or rebuking ideas that once we come to a conclusion, we don't know what to do with it. How do we make these conclusions practical? I've attached a link to amazon.com's page on CS Lewis's Mere Christianity. This book attempts not only to prove the existence of God, but also give meaning to God's existence.
