Great if you click around a bit!

Research the themes of Creation, Desctruction, Conflict and Resolution from one part of the world other than Roman/Greek. Compare the treatment of these ideas in your chosen mythic tradition to the treatment of these ideas in the Greek and Roman tradition. In what ways do the ideas found in the myths you have discussed shed light on creation, destruction, conflict and resolution in the modern world?

Aboriginal myths aren’t listed on this page but I wanted to bring them up because they often get overlooked. And I think that they have some very interesting myths, especially concerning Dreamtime. Peter Weir said, “Aboriginals believe in two forms of time. Two parallel streams of activity. One is the daily objective activity ... The other is an infinite spiritual cycle called the "dreamtime," more real than reality itself. Whatever happens in the dreamtime establishes the values, symbols, and laws of Aboriginal society.”
This reminded me very much of Plato’s theories about the ideal and the tangible realm. What exists in Dreamtime is very similar to the eternal forms Plato believes in.
